  • Looking back, I am really not so sure my beard helped at all in earning respect from or striking fear into the hearts of my students. Its main purpose was to set me apart from 8th graders, to keep me from blending into the middle school hallways, to widen the age gap a little. Im pretty sure it did that.

But finally, my months of growing and grooming finally pay off. I will be playing the part of “disciple” in the Easter 2006 Passion Play at church. Starting in April, you will know me as Simon Peter. That gives me a solid year to study and get into my role. My non-speaking, non-singing role. Small part, perhaps, but I will be the best-bearded disciple by far.

    News for next year:

Geometry. All Geometry. Six periods. Same lesson. Are you as excited as I am?

Feel free to leave your favorite geometric theorem in a comment.

  • Because a best friend who has known of xanga for at least two years decided to start one now, and because my social circle has completely fallen apart and lost contact over the last six months, I will choose to update now. So, for the four of you that might actually view this, I have missed you dearly, and this is what you have missed of me. Consider it a glance at a story of a young college graduate, moving back into his parent’s house and beginning a career. Not exactly reality show material, but it is my life.

A college graduate, of course, must graduate from college. Here, the traditional photo in cap and gown with Judge.

Followed by Christmas, where all I got was a helmet and a Reader’s Digest.

I bought some new wheels. Everyday after work I would pose with my car like this with the sunset behind me. Life at home is good.

Speaking of work, here is my department. Can you point me out? They really took me in last semester. I truly felt like one of the girls.

Birthdays and Blazers. Sounds like a fraternity mixer.

Spring Break will never die. I spent mine playing golf in Gerogia. How did you spend yours? Here is J in awe over the most scenic course he has ever seen.

A solid 5 iron hit off fairway of said scenic course.

I hiked the Palo Duro with Panhandlers.

Also made it to Lake Whitney on a “camping” trip with previously mentioned Birthday and Blazer friends.

I’m not sure how I ended up on Table Rock Lake a few weeks ago.

But I did notice that all the kids are talking about these hip plaid shorts. I am sporting mine in the middle. Also sporting Crocs, shoes that I swear by and strongly endorse.

For the most part, that’s all. I can’t apologize for lapses in updates. I just lost interest. I hope I caught you, my few friends still reading this, up to speed. And something else I did…I purchased premium for a month so you could see these pictures, so I better see some eprops coming my way.

  • Sorry for the lack of updates.

Im enjoying a much needed Spring Break. A week or two after you enjoyed your Break. They ran it right into Easter this year, stealing me of a Good Friday.

Im off to GA to spend a ridiculous amount of money playing golf and maybe even catch up with a good friend.

    And a teaching update:

Its much harder than I thought.
Im not as good as I thought.
Chances of becoming a Stallion once again.

Pictures of me playing a round at Augusta soon to come.

  • Today the word “vaginal” was overheard in the teacher’s lounge. I cannot recall the context, but it was during lunch.

Further evidence that I am in a female dominated workplace.

  • The cost of necessary mechanical repairs finally outweighed the worth of my truck.

This really was the only reasonable option.

January 2, 2005

  • I consider my beard to be my winter coat.

School starts on Wednesday, and I am so thankful I am rid of “shirt, tie, no-facial-hair” policies.

December 21, 2004

  • No longer unemployed.

    An 8th grade challenge.

    Forcing me into adulthood.

    Still on for Wednesday?

  • I am getting the heck out of Dodge.

Will I miss you?  Sure.  But don’t flatter yourself.

And then I walk.  And then a wedding.  And then an interview.  And then life.

  • Truly, it is The Cheesiest.

Three Cheese Sauce is far better than the original.

Can I pull off Middle School Math Teacher?

Looks like I am jumping right in.
